Future Smart vent sizes – Flair
Are there any plans to offer square Smart vents in the future? I have an AC only system with ceiling vents that are square. 10x10; 8x8 & 6x6 I believe.

Hi Paul,
We are bringing our latest 6x14 to market shortly and then will be looking into new sizes, especially the sizes seen more in the South and Southeast - larger squares and rectangles. Hard to give a timeline yet but definitely something we are going to expand into.
Cheers,
Dan

I'd like to second this. My house has nothing but 8x8 square vents, and that means none of your sizes are small enough to fit. Please consider doing them as soon as possible!

Agreed. 7 out of 9 of my vents are square. Since my house is old with addons, the temperature varies a lot from room to room. Please consider this as soon as possible as I would rather purchase from Flair than a competitor like Keen.

So one question on the square sizes - I assume they are all on the ceiling - preferences on the grill pattern/throw? Assuming it's all ceilings, perhaps we could do a curved blade design? We could also stick with the current design to keep things consistent if that would be preferable since many homes have a mix of sizes. I'd also like to make the front plates out of aluminum instead of steel (save on weight) if it's ceiling only - any preferences there?

All of my vents (7 square and 2 rectangle) are all ceiling vents. I would prefer if the grills are the same for consistency. I like the idea of using aluminum instead of steel, however, would these dent and crease easily?
These are just my personal preferences. But if you move forward with square vents, how many variants would you offer at once? I have three different square sizes, bathrooms have the smallest vent, then bedrooms, then larger rooms.

Aluminum shouldn't have any mechanical issues, they are commonly used for ceiling and wall vents so long as an adequate gauge is used. Do you mean you would prefer grills that match our current design or grills that would be consistent across the square and larger sizes?
For the 3 sizes you have - what sizes are they?

@Daniel Myers - I have eight 8x8 vents and two 6x6 vents, most on the ceiling. Also - thank you very much for participating in these conversations, it's much appreciated.

Most of the 8x8s are in the ceiling or also on the floor?

The third ceiling size for squares is 12 x 12, which covers the larger common areas of the house.
For the pattern, I would like it to be consistent with the patterns of your current offerings. However, I'm not sure if the pattern causes efficiency issues for ceilings.

Throwing my hat in the ring here. I'm interested in purchasing flair vents as well but will hold off until an 8x8 model is launched as that is what I have in my ceiling as well. Very interested in seeing these come out.

All 8x8s are on the ceiling. So I have seven 8x8s in the ceiling, one 6x6 in the ceiling, and two 6x6s in a wall.

Adding a +1 to the 6x6 vents. The second floor of my home is filled with these ceiling vents.

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but any thought been given to trim kits for support alternate sizes, like Keen?

Currently have 10x10 aluminum square vents that throw in 4 directions. Be good to have a modular design or something for square vents so different covers could be used depending on size. Really want to get Flair but no ceiling square vents are offered.

I recently purchased 14 of the 4x12 vents for my floor on the 1st floor. I would love to do my second floor. Has there been any more consideration given to the 8x8 units, which I need for the ceiling upstairs? If so, any idea on a timeline yet?

@ Daniel Myers, any updates on the 8 x 8 vents? I have several in my walls and ceilings. Would be ready to buy 7 of them and 7 pucks to go with them if they were available. Would be great to get a timeline as others have requested.

@Daniel Myers I too would love 8x8 and 10x10 vents as my ceilings have them in Southern California. Pretty big market out here.

I also have a lot of square vents (both large and small). One is in a bedroom, which has given me hesitancy in "pulling the trigger" on buying Flair as I can only get Smart vents for 3 out of 4 of my bedrooms :(

9 months and 10 posts. Would be good to get a response and update here from the Flair team. Thanks and Happy Friday.

Happy to weigh in here from the Flair side. We are working on something pretty big that will enable us to launch a bunch of new sizes. I know that's vague and unsatisfying but I can't share the details just yet. I can share that one of the absolutely top priorities is building more smart vent options.

That's great news Dan and thanks a lot for jumping on here and letting us know. Do you have any sense of timing? Even something vague like "before the end of 2022" or "early 2023" would be helpful.

I'd say that we'll have some announcements in the coming couple months and hope to have at least a few of the new sizes around the end of the year. Generally tooling and testing take 3-5 months for a new size but we might be able to compress that a bit. Of course after testing is done, we can kick off a build and that has some lead time as well for components/assembly/freight hence a Q4 estimate. Definitely an aggressive timeline but also very doable.

Love it! Thanks for the info Dan, very much appreciated!

What's the status of smart vent sizes? I'd like to buy them but my house currently has 10x10, 16x16, 6x12, 4x8.

Hoping for 14x14 myself
I'd need at least 10x10 to get started with the system, since my first floor where I have most of the issues is 10x10 and 6x12.
Same here. 10x10 would be huge to get my cape setup with flair.

Any updates by chance on new sizes? Just got my flair vents - so excited! Really hoping to get a 14x14 one for my last bedroom!

For those asking about 14x14 - can you confirm that this is the size of the hole in the wall and not the exterior dimensions of the vents?
