How does Flair switch between heating and cooling? – Flair

When the Flair Mode is set to Auto Heat/Cool, Flair will switch between Heat mode and Cool mode as needed.

You can use Flair's "Auto Heat/Cool" mode with the following:

Systems with mini splits
Systems with an integrated smart thermostat(s) where the Set Point Controller is "Flair App"
Systems with a non-integrated thermostat
- Flair will know whether the system is heating or cooling by evaluating the duct temperature readings taken by your Smart Vents.

You cannot use Flair's "Auto Heat/Cool" mode with the following:

Systems with an integrated smart thermostat where the Set Point Controller is "Thermostat"
- In these situations Flair will follow the mode read from the thermostat.

Please note the following:

When Flair is in "Auto Heat/Cool" mode and controlling an integrated smart thermostat it will pull the thermostat out of Auto and set it to Heat or Cool mode as needed.
When Flair is in "Auto Heat/Cool" mode and controlling a mini split the behavior is similar. Flair commands sent to that mini split will be dedicated Heat or Cool commands.
When Flair is in Auto Heat/Cool and controlling an integrated smart thermostat you will not experience the same dead band behavior you are likely used to when your smart thermostat is in Auto mode. Flair may make adjustments to the smart thermostat in an attempt to keep the zone and all rooms within comfortable according to the set points you have established in the Flair App.
