Backup Smart Away – Flair

Backup Smart Away Feature

This Backup Smart Away feature only works for mini splits controlled by a Flair Puck or Puck Pro.

When Smart Away is configured, the "Backup Smart Away" feature will prevent your home from experiencing extreme temperatures if Flair loses its internet connection. You can issue commands directly from the Flair Puck with the Local IR Control feature to control mini splits when you are home.

Backup Smart Away will only take over if a home's Away Settings are set to Smart Away. Backup Smart Away will NOT work if the home's Away Settings are set to "Off Only".

Backup Smart Away works like this: if there is no internet, and the ambient temperature goes outside the Smart Away Maximum or Minimum Temperatures, Flair will turn on the mini splits to prevent extreme temperatures.

Specifically...

This is the only behavior for Backup Smart Away. The Puck will not attempt to turn the mini split on or off to modulate the temperature. The Puck's only goal is to prevent extreme temperatures, and to stay in the background and not interfere with user operation, or with cloud commands (when the WiFi comes back).

Additionally, Backup Smart Away behavior may be slower to respond to ambient temperatures than when there is full internet connectivity.
