What size vents do I need?

Vents come in many sizes and can vary throughout your home. Make sure to individually measure each supply vent.

Method 1 (Fastest) Measure the outside dimensions and round down to the nearest even number (inch). This method isn't recommended in Canada.

Method 2 (Most Accurate)

Remove your vent and measure the duct opening.

Vents not within reach? Use your phone to quickly get accurate vent sizes—even if they’re on the ceiling or high up on the wall. Recommended Apps: Measure (iPhone) and AR Ruler App (Android).

How many vents do I need?

A Room with Too Much Airflow Have a room that’s too cold in the summer and too hot in the winter?

Start off with a Puck/temperature sensor and a Smart Vent just for this room.

A Room with Too Little Airflow Have a room that’s too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter?

Place a Puck/temperature sensor in this room, and then use Pucks/temperature sensors and Smart Vents for the other rooms.

Uneven Temps Across Your Home Do your room temperatures change depending on the time of day and season of year?

You’ll need Pucks/temperature sensors and Smart Vents for every major room in your home.

These felt expensive upfront but compared to modifying my central HVAC these are actually cheap (especially if you need a contractor), and so easy to drop into place. I used to have 6-8 degree higher temps upstairs in the summer and now its 1-3 degrees. Much more efficient since I don't over-cool my downstairs now! And with this success I am fully expecting in the winter I can save money by not heating my upstairs bedrooms during the day when no one is in them. Took me a couple hours to figure out how to get it to do what I wanted, but it has all the features I could want and its working great. The build quality is AMAZING. Super heavy duty metal everywhere, very little plastic. Five star product for sure!

I really like the smart vent. Super quiet airflow when opened amd closed. Great air distribution. But the Puck seems pretty slow to keep up with temperature changes and it operates the vent. If the puck didn't take minutes to register obvious multi-degree temperature changes, it give this a 5 star review.

I NEVER write reviews but I have been so impressed with these I have decided to write one!! We were suffering with two rooms in our home, one very hot and one very cold. We tried everything to remedy this, new thermostat, room sensors, even opening and closing manual vents at different times of the day and night but to no avail! We have an ecobee system with room sensors, and the issue improved slightly but once we purchased these vents the temperatures have evened out perfectly. The system is simple to set up and uses all of the ecobee equipment seamlessly. The Flair app also has some good additional features such as temperature trends so you can tune the system and improve it over time. Additionally the system improves as you add more units (I only installed two initially to try them) with overall temps getting more even and closer to setpoint The only slight draw back was the integration with the ‘Sleep’ function within Ecobee. As Flair only has Away and Active modes the Ecobee sleep function doesn’t work directly with Flair. This is a problem when everyone is asleep and there is no movement in the rooms as Flair treats this lack of movement as ‘Away’ and the vents close. We were able to get round this using a schedule in Flair to set the rooms active at the same sleep setting in Ecobee, which works but is a bit of a clunky work around! Even with the minor downside of absence of the sleep function integration I would wholeheartedly recommend these units. I have five units now and I am considering purchasing 5 more. I have only had these in for 2 weeks and I have already recommended them to a lot of people I work with!! Great product!

I am staggered with how effective the vents are. Paired with ecobee, suddenly the rooms above my garage are within a couple degrees of the set point, where they used to consistently be 7-10 degrees off (hot in the summer, cold in the winter). My manual vent balancing before would work, but only for a single season before it all needed re-adjustment. Now it just… works? Like magic?

I have a two story home with a single zone furnace. My lower level (LL) would always be 5 to 10 degrees cooler than the upper level (UL). The LL is finished so no oppertunity to dual zone the HVAC system. I added a door seperating the two levels which helped but didn't solve the problem. I converted several of the LL vents to Flair 4x12 smart vents to see if the cocept worked. It did so now I'm converting the balance of the vents to Smart Vents. This 6x10 is the last to be converted. Works GREAT. Also, service is GREAT. I had problems with my Puck and after working with service, they replaced it under warrenty. Buying through the FLAIR URL you get 1 additional year of warrenty support and it works. This Smart Vent concept is the best way to handle the situation i'm in

It's all good, just few things to wish. Pucks are overpriced and uselessly over functioned. In my case nobody's configuring or event watching the puck face. Only tend sensor is used. Ideally it should be something like the Ecobee sensors, but working with master puck without the Ecobee thermostat. Most of the duct exits are not pressure-ready and may have unfinished gaps venting to inside of the wall or ceiling. If the smart vent would be equipped with some flexible air pockets it may help sealing the connection. PH1 screws on the face plate are nice but it would be more convenient to use the same screws as for the vent itself or a magnet. Also the face plate sits a bit above the wall surface leaving a small gap. And last, but important, the software is... not convenient as thermostat at all. Troubles with switching heat/cool or even calculating the temp hysteresis. Probably using Farenheit which is not precise enough. My ideal vent would work over Wi-Fi, directly with Google home/Home Assistant without intermediary logic, and have a compact wireless partner temp, PIR motion, and CO2 sensors instead of the pucks.
