Why it matters: Flair Puck 2 Pro communicates with indoor units via infrared (IR). Standard high-wall and floor console units always have an accessible IR receiver. Other unit types may or may not — we need to confirm before speccing.

Do the non-standard units have an IR receiver?
Some concealed duct, pancake, and cassette units have an accessible wall- or ceiling-mounted IR receiver. Others require a proprietary wired wall controller.

Also applies: High-static air handlers (even with an IR board) and hydronic coil air handlers are not recommended for Flair Integrated Controls without special setup. If any zone has a hydronic coil handler, we'll flag that separately.

Any ducted systems with hydronic coils in this home?
A hydronic coil runs boiler hot water through a ducted air handler as a heating stage. Flair Integrated Controls is not recommended for that configuration.

🚫 Not Recommended for Hydronic Coil Zones
Flair Integrated Controls is optimized for ductless heads (mini splits) paired with hydronic baseboard zones — not hydronic coil air handlers acting as a second stage on a shared air handler.
- For the hydronic coil zones, a different control solution is recommended (e.g., a traditional communicating thermostat or another BMS).
- For any standard ductless + baseboard zones in the same building, Flair Integrated Controls can still apply — spec those zones separately.
Proceed? You can still generate a partial spec for the compatible zones. Go back and adjust zone counts to exclude hydronic coil zones before getting a recommendation.
